About
this How-To:
|
|
Well,
I installed a Neuspeed short shifter in my car (99 civic
ex) a couple months ago. I didn't write up an install for
it, so I figured I would at least write one up about the
bushing install since that is about half of the Neuspeed
shifter install. The car it is going in today is my girlfriends
95 Civic DX coupe. I was going to put in the short shifter
also, but she says her arms are too short but she still
wanted to get rid of the sloppy shifting, and the Energy
Suspension bushing kit will certainly do that. (and its
only about 15 bucks depending on where you get it)

Ok,
put the car on the ramps (or stands). next you are going
to get underneath the car from the front looking at the
transmission. In the middle of the car (between driver and
pass.) You will see two bars that go from the transmission
toward the back of the car
|
|
|
remove
the bolt that the arrow is pointing to. This bolt is on
one of the two bars at the transmission side.
|
 |
|
After
removing the bolt, spray some Wd40 on the rubber bushing
that is in the end of the bar. Next remove the metal cylinder
in the bushing by pressing on it until it slides out. Now
just push the rubber bushing out (the stock bushing is one
piece, unlike the Energy Suspension piece. just push it
through). Next, insert the two new bushings and put the
new metal cylinder in the bushing. reattach this side of
the bar.
|
 |
|
Now
on the other end of the bar, you will see this. Remove the
two bolts shown. the rubber bushing will slide off the end
of the bar (if you have any trouble, use Wd40) now slide
the new bushing in its place, using the 2 stock metal cylinders
and reattach the mount (make sure you put the metal plate
back on with it).

 |
|
Your
done! You should now notice that the shifter is a lot more
stiff (not too stiff though) and smooth to operate.
